India is the seventh largest (by area) and second most populous country in the world. Also, it is world's largest democracy and has oldest civilization.But my question is do we the citizens & our politicians behave like a democratic people????
At the time of election, our politicians come to us and they literally beg for votes and we "The highly religious & castiest people" give out vote to politicians who are of our religion or caste or community. We never really concentrate whether these people will be able to work for our development? This negligence of ours show their results after the election in the form of inflation, murders, thefts, rapes...
Many of our elected representatives enjoy all their previleges without being accountable for their duties, the direliction of which goes unchecked along with influence peddling, nepotism, cronyism and willful negligence. They walk away scot-free, have no qualms about wrongdoing and get elected yet again, which bears testimony to their denigration of the democracy in India.
They spend crores on inhumanity like KASAB, lakhs on their own security, thousands on one plate of dinner for their party but not a single penny on the security of "COMMON MAN"! And Delhi Gang-Rape is one of the recent example of the same! Still like paasing the parcel, everyone is shifting their baggage of responsibility to the next person. With the order oof Govt., lathicharges were there on protestors who stand up for the young victim. But that is not going to affect them because sitting in air condition rooms won't let you feel the pain with which Damini is suffering!
Still no action has been taken! Respected Home Minister, Chief Minister and Prime Minister are only giving statements that all the necessary actions will be taken and the victim and her family will be provided with all the support they need but again the question arises when???
I believe and I'm sure many of you will be agree with me that " We are living in a country with age old law and age old people fiercely guarding them."
