Aircel 'Save Our Tiger" - Fashion for a Cause

Aircel 'Save Our Tigers'- Fashion for a Cause at Lakme Fashion Week, where the spectators saw an emergence of trends, design, couture & style inspired by tiger in a set-up of jungle, where tigers roared fearlessly. Aircel 'Save Our Tigers' project was started to raise awareness, funds and protection on tiger conservation. They are working towards protecting our National Animal from extinction which is commendable.

Aircel, India's leading telcom players, hosted an evening full of fashion & glamour at Lakme Fashion Week, stepping towards another milestone in its way of tiger conservation project. "Tiger" was the theme for the evening. The show styled by Aki Narula corroborated Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, walking down the ramp with other models. The designs, delineation & make-up were inspired by tiger. The ramp of Lakme Fashion Week was looking as glamorous as Tiger!

Aircel assembled & driven the fashion camaraderie to spread awareness on the social cause of protecting tigers. Aircel 'Save Our Tiger'- Fashion for a Cause, invited entries of design inspired by tiger across India. 189 designers sent 300 garment design, out of which 40 were showcased at Lakme Fashion Week. The jury comprising of Designer Narendra Kumar, Pearl Shah, Fashion Director, Marie Clarie & Saket Dhankar, Haed of Fashion, IMG Reliance chose 3 best garments designed by Arjun Khanna, Soughat Paul, & Vaishali S. Neha Dhupia, The Guest of Honour for the evening, presented the cash prize of Rs. 2,50,000/- to the three winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Brinda Mallhotra, Head-CSR, Aircel, said, “Tigers today, are among the ten most endangered species in the world and need active protection. As part of our ‘Save our Tigers’ initiative, we have taken various measures towards tiger conservation and have been working closely with bodies like WWF-India, the Wildlife Trust of India, Wildlife Conservation Trust and many other independent NGOs. We have also started ‘Kids for Tiger’ program as an extension to the initiative, where we have educated over a million children on environment and tiger conservation in the last two years.  From 1411 tigers in 2009 to 1706 tigers today, we are happy that we have been able to make some difference. With Aircel ‘Save Our Tigers’ – Fashion for a Cause, we are taking this initiative to another level by making it reach out to a larger target audience.”

Aircel 'Save Our Tigers' at Lakme Fashion Week showed the perfect harmony between Fashion and Goodwill... !!! :) :)
